Lingzhi mushroom (scientific name is ganoderma lucidum), ironwood mushroom (ganodermataceae). Lingzhi mushroom is a kind of medicinal herb that has protective effect on the liver, detoxification, brain, sputum and urine. It is good for the stomach, prevents aging and increases longevity, especially preventing cancer.
Many studies around the world have identified active substances and pharmacological effects of mushroom such as Germanium, ganoderic acid, ganodermic acid, oleic acid, ganodosteron, ganoderans, adenosine, beta-D- glucan. Germanium in mushroom may help cells absorb oxygen better; Polysaccharit increases body immunity, strengthens the liver, kills cancer cells; ganodermic acid prevents allergies and inflammation.
Effects of in cancer treatment support
mushroom can help enhance the immune system. It is a main anti-cancer mechanism by binding to the surface white blood cells or to serum proteins leading to activation of macrophages, inhibiting the adhesion and migration of cancer cells (such as breast, prostate), inhibiting the growth of cancer cells.
mushroom is used as a supplement during chemotherapy or radiotherapy to reduce side effects such as fatigue, loss of appetite, hair loss, bone marrow suppression and risk of infection. At the same time, it helps to reduce toxic side effects and pains during chemotherapy and radiotherapy, especially for patients with end-stage cancer.
According to the research published in the Carbohydrate Polymers Journal (05/2010), mushroom is capable of inhibiting proliferation of cancer cells.
Another study in the Integrative Cancer Therapies Journal (12/2003) also shows that mushroom can reduce tumor invasiveness and has potential in the treatment of breast and prostate cancer.
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center reaffirmed that Triterpenes and Polysaccharides in mushroom can inhibit the growth of tumors. In addition, mushroom has important antioxidants and helps strengthen the immune response in patients with end-stage cancer.
Some news and scientific reports on mushroom by Proffessor Wang, Yongzhong Medical Research Center of Taipei has found that Polysaccharides in mushroom can prevent allergies and tumor metastasis and promote the secretion of immune cells.
Dr Nguyen Van Hieu, Vice Dean - Faculty of Science, University of Agriculture and Forestry Studies, in charge of Agriculture and Forestry Mushroom Project talked about the use of mushroom in treating cancer: "The unique structure of lingzhi mushroom is mineral components of all kinds (119 substances), especially polysarccharides in lingzhi mushroom can control growth of abnormal cell (an agent causing pathogens cancer,). It is used in cancer treatment and treatment support after chemotherapy, radiation therapy ...”
