PIPERIN (BIOPERIN - Pepper)
Use of Pepper:
Pepper helps to increase absorption of medicines and functional foods, increases blood flow to the gastrointestinal tract, decreases secretion of such enzymes as gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (γGT), transports substances in drugs and functional foods in the liver.
Minimum doses of pepper when used in combination increases bioavailability of many drugs and functional foods in a variety of different mechanisms (affecting absorption, distribution and metabolism of medicines), therefore skillful combinations will help increase the effects of medicine and functional foods.
A study by Shoba G, Joy D, Joseph T and colleagues in the Department of Medicine, Saint John Medical University, India posted on Pubmed Magazine of National Library of Medicine and the USA National Institute of Health and in 1998 showed proven effects of piperine in black pepper over curcumin absorption in humans. The results showed that piperine helped to increase curcumin absorption by up to 20 times.
